Los Flamingos Golf Course is a relatively new course to the Costa del Sol situated within easy reach of Marbella and Puerto Banus, opened in 2001 it has already attained a well-deserved reputation for the high level of quality it offers and for having been, for three consecutive years the venue for the 'The Daily Telegraph European Seniors´ Match Play Championship' Final.
Set in beautiful natural surroundings, the par-71 Flamingos course, designed by the prestigious golf course architect Antonio Garcia Garrido is characterised by its carefully conserved landscaping, with a large variety of trees and beautiful views of the Mediterranean. The smallest details has been taken into consideration with each hole being defined by its own trees such as cypresses, oranges, jacarandas, pines, olives, and many more.
Los Flamingos Golf is a technically demanding course but one which will be enjoyed and appreciated by golfers of all levels. Each hole is laid out in front of you although elevation changes can be deceptive on the eye. Los Flamingos is a driver's golf course as it’s the key to scoring well with some narrow and testing tee shots. The greens are raised and well bunkered although generously sized but well contoured. Water comes into play on numerous holes and particularly over the closing stretch, making a very challenging finish.
The clubhouse at Los Flamingos Golf is most impressive, as it houses the 5 star Ritz-Carlton Villa Padierna Hotel.
In autumn 2007 Los Flamingos Golf opened their second golf course, the Gran Flamingos Course. This new addition keeps all the superb design features of the old course whilst stretching out to over 7200 yards from the back tees, well within a championship course criteria. With some tough questions asked, testing all the clubs in the bag this is a highly recommended course, especially for mid and low handicap golfers.
