Nestled in a natural amphitheatre created by the Serrania de Ronda Mountains, Monte Mayor Golf Course is quite possibly the Costa del Sol’s most breath taking golf course. A very challenging layout cut through a valley of mountainous terrain which could be described as target golf or bust. Many holes are played from elevated tees and require well a struck shot to a plateau fairway or green. Monte Mayor Golf Club employ's a fairly lenient local rule which allows any lost ball to be considered as been in the water hazard. As the majority of holes are over or around gullies, ravines or winding streams this seem to be a sensible decision. The greens although small and hard to find are among the best surfaces anywhere in Spain. A golf course you’ll either love or hate but what ever your opinion it’s defiantly worth visiting once as it’s one of a kind. For golfers who tend to be a little wild off the tee it’s perhaps an idea to swallow your pride and keep all the woods in the bag for this one!
