Santana Golf is a spectacular golf course, both for its design and its location, situated in one of the most beautiful valleys on the Costa del Sol, the Mijas Golf Valley. As a new golf course on the Costa del Sol, Santana Golf offers a maturity that you don’t normally find in such courses. The maturity is enhanced by the number of avocado and cork trees that have been retained in its development. Originally the site was a 138 acres avocado farm with some 36,000 trees much of which can still be seen today. Santana Golf is situated between two rivers, with a creek passing through, the course provides the sensation of being in a natural environment away from the hustle and bustle of the coast but just a few minutes drive from the sea, main highway, Fuengirola and Mijas. The result of the design is a magnificent golf course with wide, well-defined fairways on level easily walkable terrain. Water plays an important, albeit not excessive, part in the design coming into play on many holes. Each golf hole has a variety of tees, wide fairways plus very large and undulating greens, well protected by bunkers and connects seamlessly with its predecessor. Santana Golf is a technically demanding course that presents a continuous challenge to all. The layout of the greens are well protected by greenside bunkers, as well as the lakes, rivers and streams encountered throughout the round ensures a good course strategy is required as well as the confidence to use every club in the bag. It is difficult to identify a signature hole, as each of the 18 has something special to offer. The long par-4 18th is one of the most demanding finishing holes along the Costa del Sol, with a lake along the right-hand side and a narrow approach to the green.
