Unlike many of the other Vilamoura courses, Laguna Golf Course is laid out over low lying costal terrain, with few trees and many treacherous water hazards that give it its links like feel. Formally the Vilamoura III Golf Course, Laguna has undergone continual improvements over the years resulting in a par 72, 6121 meter design. The course incorporates 79 bunkers which closely guard 11 of the holes and many shots will be strongly influenced by the large water reservoirs which also provide a perfect natural habitat for the numerous aquatic birds and any other wildlife in the area.
