Situated in the heart of Vilamoura, the old golf course makes its way through numerous pine trees. These trees provide the course with its primary defence and give it its traditional parkland style and atmosphere. Described as the Grande Dame of the Algarve the par 73 of Frank Pennink is one of the oldest in the region and although opened in 1969 it was completely renovated in 1996 under the watchful eye of Martin Hawtree. No major changes were made and so the course remains true to Pennink’s original design. In addition to restoring the actual course to its former glory a new clubhouse was also created to ensure the very best facilities. Vilamoura Old Golf Course is a classic which has stood the test of time and any golfer playing this course will enjoy a real treat.
