A bright blue cloudless sky set the Christmas La Sala Golf Classic at La Quinta Golf Club off to a great start. The line up of 72 players took their positions across the A & C courses at La Quinta for the 9am shotgun start.
After 18 challenging holes it was the home course advantage that came out the real winner. Local team, the Golf Troters pipped the La Sala Golf Classic regulars Kokooyah Grass into second place with a better back nine as both teams tied on 77 points. The winners with a very commendable 80 points were the La Sala Golf Classic debutants Spanish Challengers.
Upon completion of the golf it was, as always, straight back to La Sala Bar & Restaurant. A fantastic show of hospitality by the tournament sponsors was enjoyed by all.
The festivities were capped off with the prize presentation. The Longest Drive prize was collected by Tim Swift who swears he only used a 3 wood and the spoils for Nearest the Pin was collected by yours truly with a 6 iron to 1,27m. Both received a bottle of bubbly and 2 green fees including a buggy at La Quinta.
Stay tuned for the La Sala Golf Classic 2012 fixture list.
