Even a short spell of rain couldn´t dampen anyone´s spirits, and yet another great competition for the May Sala Group Golf Classic at the Guadalmina North Course was enjoyed by all the competitiors.

After the registration, another great turnout of teams, 76 registered players in total,  spread themselves out across this great golf course for the 9am shotgun start.
Following the 18 challenging holes of Guadalmina´s North Course, with its many treacherous water obstacles, it was the team respresenting Dreamers Nightclub led my Michael Keijzer that emerged victorious with a magnificent score of 88. In a very creditable second place, with 84 points, were the Aloha Rebels team who just pipped First Choice Spain, also with 84 points, on count back. In fourth place came the Miraflores ‘A’ team with 78 points (although there was no sign of BA Baracus), just pipping Bailey´s Hookers, once again on count back.

As ever, once the golf was out of the way, it was straight back to La Sala Bar & Restaurant, where the now familiar wonderful show of hospitality by the tournament sponsors was enjoyed by all.

The festivities were then capped off with the presentation of the prizes:
The winners received a voucher for dinner for the team at La Sala, together with a bottle of bubbly, whilst the runners-up received a voucher for lunch for the team at La Sala. With the teams in 3rd and 4th also receiving bottles of bubbly for their efforts.

The prize for the longest drive was won by Lynne Cahill, the second tournament in a row where this prize has gone to a lady, whilst Dave Roberts managed to scoop the prize for nearest the pin on the 2nd, with Barbara Milaby claiming the prize for nearest the pin on the 11th. These 3 prize winners received a pair of the very latest Ecco golf shoes, for which we have to thank the sponsorship of Simply Shuttles, Stein Group – Wealth Management, the Trusted Trades Association, Direct Property Investments, Marbella Property Management & Marbella Chiropractic.

Thanks to the generosity of all the competitors, over 250 euros was raised for the charity we support, Debra, the Butterfly Skin Children’s Association. More information on this wonderful organisation can be found at www.debra.es

Everyone is now eagerly looking forward to the Sala Group Summer Cassic taking place at the Marbella Club Golf Resort on Friday the 8th of June, which ties in nicely with the grand opening of Sala Beach.

This tournament will use a different format, with consecutive tee times every 12 minutes starting at 09.00, instead of the ususal shotgun start, so book your team in early if you want the best tee times!
