Thankfully the torrential rain of the previous few days cleared up nicely, and we had a lovely sunny autumn day for the October Sala Group Golf Classic held at the Marbella Golf and Country Club on Saturday the 27th of October.
Once again it was a close finish, but after yet another fantastic competition it was the team of Hole 19 who were the winners, with a fabulous score of 85 points, for which they received a voucher for dinner for the team at La Sala, plus a bottle of bubbly. Running them close and just two points behind in second place with 83 points, were The Hoodies, who also received a voucher for dinner at La Sala, and who in spite of the name did not consist of four spotty teenagers….whilst in third place on countback, just a further two points behind with 81 points, were the team of Itapu Gents, who received a bottle of bubbly for their great effort.
After the day’s golf, it was back to the La Sala Bar & Restaurant in Puerto Banus, where the now familiar wonderful show of hospitality by the tournament sponsors was enjoyed by all, with the prize-giving taking place around 3.30pm.
The prize for the ladies’ longest drive was won by Pamela Morgan, whilst Jon Snell won the gents prize. Cliff Casey managed to scoop the prize for nearest the pin on hole 11, and seven players managed to win packets of golf balls on hole 3, by “Beating the Pro”, and getting nearer the pin than either Steven Palmer or Daniel Williams, the two Pros from the Palmer Willams Golf Academy based at Los Arqueros Golf Club. The three prize winners received a pair of the very latest Ecco golf shoes, for which we have to thank the sponsorship of Simply Shuttles, Stein Personal & Corporate Planners, Direct Property Investments, Marbella Property Management & Marbella Chiropractic.
Thanks to the generosity of all the competitors who entered the “Beat the Pro” competition, together with those bidding on the auction items back at the prize-giving, over 800 euros was raised for the charity we support, Debra, the Butterfly Skin Children’s Association.
