In spite of predictions of the seemingly “par for the course” Easter rain, apart from a few spots, it held off nicely to allow another great competition for the April La Sala Golf Classic at Valle Romano Golf Club.

After the registration, another great turnout of teams spread themselves out across this fantastic golf course for the 9am shotgun start.
Following the 18 challenging holes of the Valle Romano course, with their fast, undulating, and some might say treacherous greens, it was the team respresenting the main sponsors, La Sala, led by David Owens, together with the team from Simply-Shuttles, led by Jonathan Snell, that emerged with the equal highest scores of 86. It was decided that the deadlock would be broken back in La Sala’s private dining room, where the prize-giving was being held, with an indoor putting competition between the two teams. After a few alcoholic drinks, it was a close run thing, but with their prior knowledge of the putting surface proving the deciding factor, the team from La Sala were declared the winners. In a very creditable third place, with 84 points, were the team from the Sierra Park Club, and in equal fourth, just one point behind on 83, were the Boys in Blue and Marbella Choice teams.

As ever, once the golf was out of the way, it was straight back to La Sala Bar & Restaurant, where the now familiar wonderful show of hospitality by the tournament sponsors was enjoyed by all.

The festivities were then capped off with the presentation of the prizes:
The winners received a voucher for dinner for the team at La Sala together with a bottle of bubbly, whilst the runners-up received a voucher for lunch for the team at La Sala. With the teams in 3rd and 4th also receiving bottles of bubbly for their efforts.

The prize for the longest drive was won by Lyn Hood, much to the shame of all the male golfers, whilst her husband Peter managed to scoop the prize for nearest the pin on the 2nd, with Daniel Shaw claiming the prize for nearest the pin on the 9th. These 3 prize winners received a pair of the very latest Echo golf shoes, for which we have to thank the sponsorship of Stein Group – Wealth Management, the Trusted Trades Association & Marbella Chiropractic.

Everyone is now eagerly looking forward to the next La Sala Golf Cassic taking place at the Guadalmina North course on the 19th of May.
