Finca Cortesin Golf Course opened in 2006 and has already made a huge impact on the Costa del Sol. Measuring over 6,800 metres it is among the longest golf courses in Spain. Sited in Casares, midway between Marbella and Soto Grande the designer Cabell B Robinson has produced a very special layout. Unlike many other golf courses in Spain, Finca Cortesin is set out over a huge expanse of land which is totally unencumbered by property giving golfers a sense of freedom in the harsh Andalusia countryside. This course is beautifully offset by the manicured golf course that twists and turns through the gorse and rosemary bushes that cover much of this area. Large well contoured greens and multiple teeing areas from different angles on each hole, provides varying options for course set up, ideal for varied weather conditions and the prevailing wind. There is several breath taking driving holes over valleys with quaint timber bridges to well shaped fairways which are wide like so many modern courses. Finding them is a must as you’re likely to have a mid to long iron in your hand for the approach shot.
Finca Cortesin is the host of the 2009, 2010 & 2011 Volvo World Match Play Championship, which rightfully puts this fantastic golf course in a class with the world’s best. Finca Cortesin Golf Course is a very popular Sotogrande golf course in Costa Del Sol.
