The latest and perhaps the most talked about edition to the La Cala Golf Resort is the Europa Course, which opened in March 2005 and has caused a stir along the Costa del Sol ever since. This is a far more demanding course than its two counterparts. Putting the ball in the fairway is without doubt the key to this course, while some fairways are very generous others are not quite so forgiving, it is however equally as accommodating for high and low handicaps.
The Ojen River plays a major part in the golf course design, dissecting the course in two and coming in to play on eight holes. The river cuts across three fairways, although La Cala has spared no expense in erecting some of the most extravagant bridges seen on the coast for easy access.
The par 5, 11th is the longest hole on the golf course measuring a huge 524 metres and is flanked by the Rio Ojen from tee to green. The 14th is by far the toughest hole on the course, at almost the maximum par 3 distance the 233 metre hole lurks with danger in the form of water right and scrubland left. This course is certainly a must play for all golfers and off the back tees it’s a real test of golf for the low handicappers. La Cala Europa Course is a popular Fuengirola golf course in Costa Del Sol.
