Rio Real Golf Course is one of the oldest courses in Marbella and it has stood the test of time outstandingly as it is still among the best tests of golf the Costa del Sol has to offer. Situated in a beautiful valley between the Mediterranean and the mountains with a great variety of pines and palm trees, the course is a traditional design with some tight driving holes which are lined with mature pines left and right. This provides players with plenty of opportunities to open their shoulders on the stunning par fives. The River, from where the course gets its name, crosses the course several times and comes into play immediately short of the green on more than one occasion proving equally as much a mental hazard as a physical one. Although Rio Real is by no means a long course it is a taxing one requiring different shapes for shots for the longer hitters. Should you regularly find the cut and prepare well you’ll be rewarded with many birdie opportunities. Players of all abilities will relish the test that this course offers and enjoy the private picturesque setting.
