Club de Golf Valderrama is Spain’s most famed golf course not to mention Europe’s number one. Soto Grande is home to this 6356 meter masterpiece which held the Volvo Master for two decades, as well as in 1999 and 2000 the World Golf Championships. Even these great championships are eclipsed by Valderrama’s proudest moment, the 32nd Ryder Cup in 1997 which cemented the golf course among the worlds greatest.
Designed in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones Senior, one of the most influential golf course architects of the modern age, the par 71 championship course has been remodelled countless times to achieve what many consider to be perfection.
The fairways, described by pros and leading golf writers as the best in Europe if not the world, are tightly lined with cork oaks and hitting them is not so much a necessity as hitting the correct side as entrances to the postage stamp greens are narrow and demand the most accurate of golf shots. Valderrama Golf Course is a classic which can only be held in the highest regard and will be enjoyed and appreciated by any golfer. Valderrama Golf Course is one of the best Sotogrande golf courses in Spain
